You can think of me as the glue that holds things together. I am a behind-the-scenes person, so most of my dealings are in-house, where I get a real buzz out of making sure things are correct and running on time.
I arrived in 2009 from a project admin role in the oil and gas industry. It was very much what I do here, but on a different scale, and I remember how rewarding it was to move to The Creative Engine. It’s a place where you can see the benefits of your work up close.
It would be impossible to pick out a high point, as that would require having a dip here and there, which there really hasn’t been. Our projects are so varied and the people here are great to work with, which means that although there have been a lot of changes since I joined, the one constant has been the satisfaction of coming in to work every day.
A lot of that comes down to the fact that it is a very collaborative set-up. You might have your own projects to focus on, but you can always pitch in on something else, and without all the loops and hoops you need to dive through in a bigger company, your suggestions get picked up a whole lot quicker. It really makes you feel valued, and it’s great for the clients, too, as it means we’re iterating more quickly, and coming up with more ideas from which we can pick the very best.
Outside of work, a lot of my time is spent being a parent, which is incredibly rewarding. There’s nothing better than ‘family time’ at the weekends, spending time with the kids, exploring their interests, seeing them have fun and learning to appreciate the world anew through their eyes.
